This picture shows how a brick veneer wall is constructed.

This picture shows how a brick veneer wall is constructed. The brick wall is on the left, the wall sheathing is on the right, and they are attached by metal ties.  The metal ties are installed in the mortar between the bricks and nailed to the wall sheathing.
